4 months
We had our 4 month well check up and surprisingly Bixby is tiny. She looks so chunky to us but for her age she's small. Here are her stats:
• Now weighting in at 13.5 lbs that's in the 33%
• her length is 23 inches so barely 10% for height
• then her head is 16 3/4 so 75%.
She's in the same growth pattern since birth so the doctor said there is nothing to worry about. Compared to Baines she's 1 1/2 lbs heavier and an inch shorter at this age. The nurse measured her 3 times to make sure because she was in such a low percentile. She keep saying this little one doesn't look small (the chunky cheeks throw people off). The most obvious difference between the two girls is the hair. Baines had tons that never fell out and Bixby is only left with little whispies at this point.
Her newest developments are using her arms and legs more. Last night she discovered splashing in the bath. She was going crazy legs trying to kick a rubber ducky. Then at the doctors office when she realized the table paper made noise when she moved, she went crazy again. I totally should have gotten a video of both but I was too sucked into the moment laughing with her.
She has an amazing low giggle and is super ticklish. It's so low it almost sounds like she's crying. When you tickle her tummy and chin(s), she cracks up.
Continuing to be the sweetest baby ever my sister-in-law said we shouldn't have any young impressionable teenagers watch her because they'll think it's like having a doll and want one of their own.

8 weeks
Today Bixby is 8 weeks old. We went to her well check and she's a perfect and so happy. Here are her stats:
• she's a squishy 11 lbs that's in the 50%
• her length is 22 inches so 25% for height
• then her head is 15 1/2 so 81%. I'm guessing that means she'll be smart.
Bixby smiles all the time. She loves it when I say Boo to her. She even started to giggle at the sound. She coos and squeaks all the time. Her favorite activity is chewing/ sucking her hand. She's been a champion sleeping giving us a good 5-6 hour stretches every night. I attribute that to the kiddopotamus swaddle wraps. She loves being wrapped up tight and those thing keep her that way all night. I'm not that good with the blanket swaddle. She always breaks free. Although I love co sleeping with her, she's been sleeping in the crib too but it's in our room next to the bed. So I can always keep her close.
Since the girls look so much alike I love comparing their two pictures. I took this one today at the doctors and they are looking so different now. Bixby is becoming her own little person. I love how chunky she is.

Halloween
When it
becomes Fall if you have kids you need to do the traditional Pumpkin Patch
visit. We didn’t get any pumpkins because
they are totally overpriced but Pa’s Pumpkin Patch has a full carnival for
kids. We met some friends there and
Baines had so much fun. We did the Carousel,
Pumpkin bounce house, Petting Zoo and her favorite the Pony ride. I wasn’t sure she would like the ponies since
she had to do it without us by her side but as you can see she loved every
second.
The
night before Halloween, Baines was in a great mood. After her bath we put her in the new pink Skelton
jammies grandma had sent. I did notice
that her voice sounded a little scratchy that night. The next morning poor baby girl work up full
blown sick. I stayed home from work to
be with her since she couldn’t go to preschool.
She slept in till about 10:00 and then woke up hungry for lunch. I let her eat spaghetti in our bed (which she
gobbled up) Then she took a late nap and
you could tell she felt crappy. She told
us she didn’t want to trick or treat or wear a costume. I didn’t want her to miss out so we got her
up and moving and she agreed to go.
Every year we
meet at Nicholas’ brothers house to trick or treat with our nephews. Baines had an awesome time and she looked so
cute in her Jessie for Toy Story costume.
I even played domestic mom and glued red sequins to her top an hat. She
ignored the sickness and was going to every house saying “Tricker Treat, Please”
then “Thanks for da candy”. She probably would have stayed out longer but she
needed to go home.
Taking a sick
little girl Trick or Treating probably wasn’t our best parenting moment and we paid
for it! She was up all night
crying. I literally had to rock her for
about 2 hours to keep her somewhat calm.
Nicholas and I only got a few hours of sleep. The next day I had to work so we had Nana
take her to the Doctor. So glad we did
because the little lady had Strep Throat.
I knew once she started Preschool that she would get sick but I didn’t think
we would start out with that. After 10
days of Penicillin (which I’m allergic too but luckily she was not, also this
was her antibiotic ever) she’s back to her healthy self.
PS. She’s
looking at herself in the mirror in the video.
I did her hair like “Mommy’s”

23 Months
With
only one month left till we have a two year old, I thought I should update on
all the fun/funny things she’s been into.
She constantly keeps us laughing and entertained. Here are a few of the things she’s doing right
now.
-We
started potty training about 3 months ago.
We’re not aggressive about it and we let her go at her own pace. I’ve been so proud at how well she has
done. In the morning she wakes up dry
most days and uses the potty. Then she
also uses it a couple times at Nana’s then again at night with us. We went with the bribe system, she gets a
piece of candy every time she use it. It’s going really well but we’re not forcing. I want her to go at her own pace. It would be nice to be out of diapers by the
time the new baby arrives.
-Her
favorite thing to say is “Mommy… what doin?”.
I hear it about every 5 seconds. No
joke I’ll be driving and she’ll ask me 150 times before we get to the grocery
store. It’s really funny because she doesn’t
pay attention to the answer. Then if you ask her the same question she doesn’t
respond or say’s “I ount know”.
-She
has such a good memory. We were watching
the Little Mermaid and she started reciting the whole first scene with Arial
and Flounder word for word. I just stared
in amazement and then thought she might have watched this too many times.
-Now
that she’s understanding and talking all the time she started saying funny
things in public. We went to Target and
I had to use the restroom. My pregnant bladder
doesn’t last long. We went into the
crowded bathroom and we both went into the large stall. She announced really loudly “Mommy go poopoo!”. It made me laugh so hard. I was dying and had to say just as loudly. “No
Mommy is just going peepee”. Then the other day we were walking home from
the park. There was a dude
waiting for his kids baseball game to begin and Baines looked at him and ran
away screaming “AHHHHHH, He scared me, AHHHH!!!”. Nicholas and I felt so embarrassed and tried
to explain that he was a stranger but wasn’t trying to scare her. It was really funny.
-I’ve
been doing some prenatal Yoga and Baines love joining in. Her favorite position is Downward Dog. She yells,
“Mommy look at me, look at me”.
Then jumps up and says “I did it!”
Then when I do Downward Dog she has to crawl under me and laugh because
my hair tickles her. I love her enthusiasm
but it makes it hard to get a good stretch.
-Lately
she’s been very clingy with me. She says
“Mommy, my hold you?” in her sweet little voice. My belly is getting bigger so it’s harder for
me to hold her. I can only put her on my
hip. I’ll be so bummed when I’m huge and
I can’t pick her up to cuddle.
Here
are a few of our favorite video’s from the last month.

Last Checkup...
Since
Baines is almost 20 Months I think it’s appropriate that I finally post this 18
month checkup visit.
Of
course she made being at the doctor a party and was running around crazy in her
diaper and socks. She was really brave
and only cried a little when the doctor examined her. He
became her best friend when he gave her a grape flavored tongue depressor. She had to get some shots and cried for two
seconds and then said “Ouch Hurt” while rubbing her leg. Then she was back to playing around. Her measurements were, 23 lbs and 33.4
inches tall. So she’s still in the 25%
for weight and 75% for height.

Christmas Eve
It's a New Year and already I'm playing catch up. I have a million pictures from Christmas and our week off for Utah Vacation. I thought I should break up my posts so not to overwhelm you... Of course most pictures are of Baines. I really like her :-)
On Christmas Eve, we spent the evening with Nicholas Mom's side of the family. We do a big dinner, socialize, and all the kids open gifts. Last year she was so into the packages and pulling tissue paper out, as you might remember here . This year it she wasn't really interested in the wrapped gifts. I had to open them, when she saw the toy's inside she was so stoked and wanted us to open the boxes right away.
She got some really fun gifts that include a Tree House tent, cute hair clips and necklace hand made by Nicholas's cousins wife, an Elmo guitar (her favorite), a little piano, and tea set. Spoiled Rotten and its only Christmas Eve.

15 Months
It’s been a long time since I had a chance to write an update on Baines and now that she’s 15 months old I thought I should get to it. Here is some info about the little Baines.
• Her vocabulary is ever expanding. She staring to put words together. The other day when I dropped her off at Nana’s she said “Bye Mom, See ya” It was so cute.
• Not all words come out right. My favorite things she says are mis pronounced like Meow is a cat, alloon is a Balloon. Neck and ear is Necklace and earrings. Banky her favorite blankets.
• The terrible two’s have already started. Girl knows how to throw a wicked temper tantrum.
• Baby Dolls are still her favorite. She carries them around feeding bottles. She also loves her purse and filling it with our remote controls.
• She’s also obsessed with jewelry. I don’t know where she would have picked that up….Oh right maybe me! She has to wear a Neck all the time. She also has a bunch of bracelets. Nicholas put them on her feet the other day and now she always wants you to put them on as anklets.
• Being outside is her favorite thing. When we put her shoes on she get so excited because she knows its time to go outside. Rocks and bugs are the best things to look for.
• When ever she wants something she points and says “this, this!” When you finally figure out what she’s pointing at she does a little jig with excitement.
• She loves to color but crayons aren’t as cool as a pen and paper. She likes to walk around making little notes. Nicholas calls her the building inspector.

Halloween

We had a really fun time with our baby owl on Halloween although she is still unsure about the holiday. The first house we went to she started crying when the guy said hi. It was really funny/ sad. Also her costume was too big and she wasn’t digging the limited mobility. Towards the end of the block she was having fun carrying her owl bucket and shaking her candy around. When we got back to Nicholas Brothers house we took off her costume and then she was enjoying herself. She didn’t really care for the candy but she was obsessed with the Carpi Sun drinks they had. We don’t give her juice yet so I think it was like liquid crack. We let her have a whole one and she carried it around all night even after it was gone. She was totally juice drunk!
