Baby Girl #2

We had an exciting day yesterday with our 19 week Ultrasound.  We will be having another little girl.   Baines was right, she has been telling people that a little Sister was in my tummy.  Her name will be Bixby.  Everyone keeps asking where we came up with the name.  Honestly, Nicholas thought of it months ago before we were pregnant again and we both agreed if we had another girl that would be her name.  I LOVE the name and I’m super stoked to have two little B girls.

This is Bixby’s side profile.  She was sucking on her hand on and off during the Ultrasound.  It was so cute.  When she pulled her arm away it looked like she was flexing her muscles or doing a mic check as Nicholas says.  She going to be tough little sister.

I asked that they do a 3D image as well.  We had one from Baines so of course I wanted to see her as well.

I compared Baines’ 3D images to Bixby’s and I couldn’t believe have similar they are.  Both were taken at 19 weeks and almost in the same position.  It’s so crazy to me that they look so much alike.  Nicholas also pointed out that both Ultrasounds were done on the 17th.  I think that’s a sign of good luck.

This is a little video Nicholas took.  You can see Bixby moving around.

23 Months

With only one month left till we have a two year old, I thought I should update on all the fun/funny things she’s been into.  She constantly keeps us laughing and entertained.  Here are a few of the things she’s doing right now.

-We started potty training about 3 months ago.  We’re not aggressive about it and we let her go at her own pace.  I’ve been so proud at how well she has done.  In the morning she wakes up dry most days and uses the potty.  Then she also uses it a couple times at Nana’s then again at night with us.  We went with the bribe system, she gets a piece of candy every time she use it.   It’s going really well but we’re not forcing.  I want her to go at her own pace.  It would be nice to be out of diapers by the time the new baby arrives.

-Her favorite thing to say is “Mommy… what doin?”.  I hear it about every 5 seconds.  No joke I’ll be driving and she’ll ask me 150 times before we get to the grocery store.  It’s really funny because she doesn’t pay attention to the answer.   Then if you ask her the same question she doesn’t respond or say’s “I ount know”.

-She has such a good memory.  We were watching the Little Mermaid and she started reciting the whole first scene with Arial and Flounder word for word.  I just stared in amazement and then thought she might have watched this too many times.

-Now that she’s understanding and talking all the time she started saying funny things in public.  We went to Target and I had to use the restroom.  My pregnant bladder doesn’t last long.  We went into the crowded bathroom and we both went into the large stall.  She announced really loudly “Mommy go poopoo!”.  It made me laugh so hard.  I was dying and had to say just as loudly. “No Mommy is just going peepee”.   Then the other day we were walking home from the park.  There was a dude waiting for his kids baseball game to begin and Baines looked at him and ran away screaming “AHHHHHH, He scared me, AHHHH!!!”.   Nicholas and I felt so embarrassed and tried to explain that he was a stranger but wasn’t trying to scare her.  It was really funny.

-I’ve been doing some prenatal Yoga and Baines love joining in.  Her favorite position is Downward Dog.  She yells,  “Mommy look at me, look at me”.  Then jumps up and says “I did it!”   Then when I do Downward Dog she has to crawl under me and laugh because my hair tickles her.  I love her enthusiasm but it makes it hard to get a good stretch.

-Lately she’s been very clingy with me.  She says “Mommy, my hold you?” in her sweet little voice.  My belly is getting bigger so it’s harder for me to hold her.  I can only put her on my hip.  I’ll be so bummed when I’m huge and I can’t pick her up to cuddle.

Here are a few of our favorite video’s from the last month.

Baby 2.0

I already feel like a neglectful mother to this new little person growing inside me but to be fair it’s also sucking away every brain cell I have left after Baines’ pregnancy.  I’ve been so scatter brained and overwhelmed.  I’m now 16 weeks along and finally I’m starting to feel like myself again.

This pregnancy was a surprise to Nicholas and I but especially my body.  I have been working out and getting extremely active 3 months prior and lost 12 lbs.  What better time to have another baby at the peak of my physical fitness.  I was taking a Cycling class at 24 hour fitness when I realized that I was late.  I had to jump off my bike and checked the date on my phone.  I waited until the next day to take the test, it was Easter morning and the stick said pregnant.  I already feel much healthier than I did the first time.  Maybe because I know what to expect and I’m ready for the aches and pains.

Starting around week 6 the nausea started.   Just like before it was All day sickness not just the morning.  It was actually worse at night.  I knew every day that around 3 o’clock it would hit me and I would struggle through my work day till I could go home and rest.   This time we decided to keep the pregnancy a secret till week 12.   It was so hard to hide how sick I was at work.   I could hardly eat, only drink sparkling water, and was really quite at my desk.  I finally had to break down and tell my boss just in case I had to run out of the office to barf.

We told our parent and siblings around week 8.  I bought Baines a shirt that said Big Sister.  Nicholas family caught on really quickly an we’re really excited.  My family on the other hand… They came to visit for a two week vacation and to help work on the house.  The first day they arrived Baines showed up wearing the shirt.  It took them about 45 min to realize.  My mom even was rubbing Baines tummy right over the Big Sister.  It was funny to sit there and want to say “Duh”.  Finally my sister-in-law Lindsay said “what does her shirt say, is that an announcement?”  My family was excited for us too and of course my mom cried.

Once 12 weeks hit I wasn’t too thrilled to tell everyone I was pregnant.  Mostly because I was so sick it was hard to show excitement at that point but Nicholas insisted and we posted this picture on Facebook and text our good friends to let them know first.    Since then I have been meaning to update the blog.  I wanted to start the blogging about this pregnancy like I did for Baines.  I love going back and reading the comparison between the two pregnancy.  They are surprisingly similar, emotionally and physically.    I’m going to make a promise right now that I will document this pregnancy too.   I love this little person so much already I need this help to remember all the wonderful experiences.

I was sitting on the bed last night with Baines kissing her feet and I got so excited that I’ll have another pair of feet to kiss.  Being a mother is so amazing and I’m lucky to have this opportunity.   We have our ultrasound scheduled for July 17th.  We’re excited to find out if well have another girl or a boy.

Fail

I just realized that I have not put up a post showing the start to finish process of building our front door. I guess that is because I don't feel like we are 100% done yet. I mean the door is installed and working great but we have not built the threshold, we have temporary hinges installed and it needs to be polished up. I did say that I would do a write up about it though so sooner or later I will do it.

Easter

We had a lovely Easter!  The weather was amazing, the food was amazing and we got to spend it with family.   I just love seeing Baines play with her cousins.  She just loves them so much and so do we!

Last Checkup...

Since Baines is almost 20 Months I think it’s appropriate that I finally post this 18 month checkup visit.

Of course she made being at the doctor a party and was running around crazy in her diaper and socks.  She was really brave and only cried a little when the doctor examined her.    He became her best friend when he gave her a grape flavored tongue depressor.    She had to get some shots and cried for two seconds and then said “Ouch Hurt” while rubbing her leg.     Then she was back to playing around.     Her measurements were, 23 lbs and 33.4 inches tall.  So she’s still in the 25% for weight and 75% for height.
