Crazy Dreams

So far I’ve had two dreams about our baby. Both have been about finding out the sex. In the first, we found we are having a boy. I was holding a can of coke, I threw it against the wall and it sprayed everywhere. I was so pissed and upset. I don’t know why… I really don’t care what we have, I’ll be happy either way. I actually assume we are having a boy because that is the majority on both sides of the family. Also Nicholas thinks it’s a boy and he is convincing me.

In the second dream, we found out we were having a girl. My heart felt so full and I was so emotional. We also called her by the name we have chosen. It was so weird because the dream felt so real. I woke up with my hand on my tummy and I felt so connected with the baby. I know it’s just a dream but it was a strange sensation. I guess subconsciously I want a girl?

How sad if we have a boy, he’ll have to listen to the story about his mom throwing a coke for the rest of his life.

12 Weeks

We had an appt with our OBGYN on Monday for a check up. First thing they do is weight me, I lost 10 lbs! I knew I was having trouble eating but thought I was eating enough. It makes sense because I was so sick for about 4 weeks. The doctor wasn’t concerned because my nausea is getting better. She also said “you’re going to be gaining that back with a vengeance soon!”

We also got another ultrasound to see the baby’s heart beat. She has trouble picking it up on the Doppler because of the baby’s position. I can’t believe how much the little thing moves in there. It looked like a Mexican jumping bean. No joke it was bouncing off the walls! That has to be from Nicholas because I never had that much energy. If it’s a sign to come, I’m sure I’ll get a lot of kicks to the ribs. Also on the ultrasound she noticed that the placenta was lower than normal. It could potentially be a problem later in the pregnancy but isn’t a concern until after 28 weeks. It would stop me from having a natural birth and would have to be C-Section. My doctor said it’s pretty common this early and generally moves as the baby grows. I really haven’t thought much about my birth plan yet but the thought of a C-section scared me.

I’m not sure I like this point in my pregnancy. I am still nausea (about 20% better) and very sleepy all the time. I already have a visible baby bump but I’m at the point where people are saying “is she fat or pregnant?".

As you know I just went to Dallas for a trade show. I really like going there because I get to hang out with my sales rep friends. We do dinner every night and talk gossip. We have also befriended several employees at the hotel where we stay. None of these people knew I was pregnant. I didn’t make a huge announcement I just told everyone individually. They were really excited for me but it was funny, everyone already knew because of how I look. One of the employees at the hotel made a comment to my friend Monica that I had “Gained weight”. He thought I had eaten too many Twinkies! It’s defiantly not a food baby since I haven’t been able to eat much. Even one of my stores, looked at my belly several times and then said “Okay I hope this isn’t rude but are you pregnant?” Lucky for her I am. It was really weird to have people look at me and guess that I am having a baby. It’s only going to get easier as the weeks go on.

I want to post a belly picture but I have to wait till I look LESS fat and more Glowing Holy Vessel!

11 Weeks

I really haven’t been thinking about the Blog this week because it’s our LA Market at work and I have been extremely busy. Five times a year buyer from all over come to LA to shop from our showroom. During this time we are open on weekends. It’s generally pretty busy but the preparation needed is the hardest part. We have to make sure our designers send sample on time, merchandise everything, and make sure we call everyone for appointments. Once LA Market is over I fly to Dallas and do the same thing there for 4 days.

With that being said I have been very exhausted and sick the past week. Our Markets always take a lot out of me because I am constantly working at 200%. Now working that hard and making a baby is taking its toll! Today is our third day at market and I feel like I could sleep for weeks. I only have 7 more days of this craziness and hopefully I can get back to my normal routine. I think my nausea has actually gotten worse. All my vices that were working previously now make me sick. The only thing that is offering some relief is gum and that doesn’t fill my belly. Last night I had a cup full of dry honey combs for dinner (It’s so sad that is all I can eat).

I have two weeks left of my first trimester and all the books and friends tell me I will feel much better. I received my 11 week update from this morning and it made me really happy. It said the baby is the size of a Fig now. I can’t believe how fast it’s growing. They also said “She's already busy kicking and stretching, her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet.” Tell me that doesn’t melt your heart… I couldn’t help from crying

10 Weeks

Our baby is officially the size of a Kumquat! Can you believe that?
I don’t know how something so small could make me look SO pregnant already. I’m going to be huge!

If I never eat again…

The hardest part about being pregnant is trying to eat. I hate everything I try and put in my mouth! I have been suffering from nausea since my 6th week. Right now I see no end insight. Everyone keeps telling me that I will be much better after 12 weeks. I think they are lying just to make me feel better. The only think that helps is Ice water (I mean almost frozen), Taco Bell, and Slurpees. I’m sure those are all healthy for a growing baby. I have been trying to eat better but most veggies make it worse. I found carrots will do the trick but now I’m worried the baby will come out orange.

Nicholas is growing tired of my constant complaining too. He think the baby is going to be easier than pregnant me. He has been a trooper, making dinner, getting me ice water, and telling me I still look hot (I know that’s not true). He thought I was faking it until we saw the first ultrasound. It was so much fun to see the excitement on his face when we saw the little thing moving. Now he is beyond excited to have a mini me since that is the only way anyone could match his energy level.

We can’t wait till late February to find out if it’s a boy or girl. Either way I’m sure it will be addicted to Slurpees!

Copy Blog

So this is our official copy blog. Our friends Rebecca and Brian are having an awesome baby in March. They started a blog about the experience from the beginning. They live in New York so it has been so fun to read all the things that have been going on with their pregnancy. So we decided to copy them again, we have been doing it for years so hopefully they won’t mind. Examples

1. They got engaged, two months later we got engaged
2. They got married, two months later we got married
3.They got pregnant, and shazam we got pregnant. At least we waited longer than two months this time.

Since my entire family lives in Utah I thought it would be a good way to keep them in on our experience. We’re going to try and post as much as possible so if you’re interested stay tuned for our Adventures!

On the next edition “Adventures in nausea”

9 Weeks

Here is our first picture of Baby “E”. To Nicholas dismay there is only one in there.
