Cool

We spent the weekend in Cool, CA for a 24 mountain bike race that Nicholas and some friends rode as a 4 person team. I was really skeptical about going because the drive was 6 ½ hours! I didn’t think I would be able to make it being 6 months prego. I really wanted to go support Nicholas since it was his birthday on Friday. Plus it was his little vacation away from home construction. We made a game of taking pictures of all the places I stopped to pee. I was surprised I didn’t have to stop more!

And the best part, the boys got SECOND PLACE!!!! They did awesome and I am super proud of Nicholas.

This dude was AWESOME. He rode the race solo for all 24 hours. On his final lap he took his two Chi-Wienners along for the ride. Is hard to see but the dogs are wearing matching jerseys and Doggles!

Please don’t compare!

I hate it when I meet another pregnant woman and I dread them telling me when they are due. 9 times out of 10 they are also due in Aug. Then the comparison starts… yes my belly is double the size of yours and yes my boobs are 17 million times the size of yours. I can’t help it, it’s just my genes. Don’t get me wrong in no way, shape or form am I embarrassed about the way I look. I’ve been wearing my pregnancy very well, if I do say so. Its just getting really old that I keep running into women that are due the same month as me. I already look huge but it makes me feel Gargantuan!

One more reason why I can’t wait for Baines to get out here already.

One year older and wiser too?

Getting older is not very fun anymore, birthdays are just lame. I had to work and I didn’t even know anything to ask for? Everyone was really nice and sent me Happy Birthday wishes. I also ate too much cake (delicious but too much)! The best part of my day was coming home, lying on the bed, cuddling with the doggies, talking with Nicholas, and feeling Baby Baines move around. My priorities have really changed and Baines is not even here yet.

I share my birthday with my Sister-in-law Andrea. We were texting about how our day went this morning. She said hers was great because my nephews made her cards and they made her cry. I can’t wait to have those birthdays!

24 Weeks

This week has flown by… I can’t believe tomorrow is Friday. Everyday I have thought about updating the blog but just didn’t have a second to do it. A lot has gone on this week including me starting my 6th month of pregnancy. Baines is now 12 inches long and weighs about 1.4 lbs. She is still moving around all the time and especially when I eat. The girl already loves her food. You can see her moving from the outside now and on Tuesday morning my nephew Dean saw her move. The look on his face was so cute. It’s fun that they are so excited to meet their cousin.

We have our monthly doctor’s visit tomorrow. We will be scheduling my next ultrasound to check on my placenta. I also have to ask the doctor about some pressure that I have been feeling. My friends think its Braxton Hicks contractions (just practicing for the real thing). Hopefully it’s nothing to be worried about. I will also have to get a glucose test. Maybe I shouldn't have eaten the 2 pieces of cake today?

We also had some drama this week. My sweet little Macie puppy got injured. We went to Utah over the weekend and she stayed with Nicholas’ parents. Macie loves going there and loves to ruff house with their boxer. We don’t know what happened but we think she might have gotten hurt playing around. Saturday night she was acting really lethargic, which is unusual for her because she normally runs on full speed all the time! It progressively got worse and when we picked up Monday night she was visually in pain. We didn’t know if she had eaten something, caught the flu, or hurt herself? She was just looking at us like “Please help me”. She also hadn’t eaten in about a day. We watched her closely all night; I don’t think Nicholas or I slept. We were hoping after food and rest she would be feeling better. The next morning she was the same. She could barely walk. So we assumed it was a back or leg injury. We took her to the Vet Tuesday morning, and we were right. She did injure her back; we aren’t quite sure where because they didn’t want to do x-rays for fear that if they move her it would get worse. She had to get a shot in the back of anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxer. The doctor told us we should crate her for 2 weeks but honestly she put herself on bed rest. All she does is lay in her bed and sleep. It’s really depressing because she is our comic relief everyday. She has gotten a little better and the medication she is taking seems to be helping. Hopefully she will be back to herself soon. Bugita on the other hand loves that Macie is out of commission. She is running around the house like she is a puppy since she doesn’t have Macie stealing her toys and ruining her fun.

23 Weeks

So for another week I’m a single mother, which means cooking for myself and the dogs sleeping on top of me! It makes for a really long week because I don’t like either one. I do love my puppies but not during much needed bed time. I already have a huge bump on my belly that is preventing me from sleeping in the best position ever… my stomach. Sleeping is pretty much the same, touch and go. Some night I sleep great and others I toss and turn all night. Last night I had an asthma attack. I haven’t had one in a month so my inhaler wasn’t readily available. I had to get out of bed at 3 am and find it. It was such a bummer because I couldn’t fall back asleep. Needless to say today has been a really long day.

Baby B continues to grow and make me look huge. She is still moving around like crazy. It almost feels like a muscle spasm but stronger. She is stretching out more and I feel her move in different areas. The other day I felt a kick in the middle of my abdomen under my ribs. Most of the movement has been lower so it was really weird. I have also been noticing a lot of kicks that are in repetition. I was reading my What to Expect book and they mentioned hiccups. I completely forgot that it said you can feel hiccups. I came to the conclusion that those must be hiccups. Now every time I feel them it makes me laugh, Nicholas gets hiccups a lot so she must get that from him.

I know this week will crawl by because I have a super exciting weekend coming up. Nicholas is meeting me in Utah on Friday night. My cousin Chantal is getting married on Saturday and I’m super excited that we get to attend. We had a chance to hang out with her and her fiancé TJ in November when they were in Long Beach for a cruise. Since I moved to California I rarely get a chance to hang out with my cousins and their spouses. It was so rad! I love them both and couldn’t be happier. I am so lucky to have great relationships with my family. I know a lot of people who aren’t as lucky. I have to attribute that to my grandparents for always working so hard to keep us close. That is defiantly one tradition I will carry on with my family.

It’s going to be a really short trip but its going to be great to see my family. I can’t wait!

22 Weeks

The biggest milestone this week would be... I'm now carrying a 1 lbs baby and it's really starting to show. My stomach has popped out! I'm only measuring a week large than I am supposed to be but I feel huge. My doctor says its completely normal so I'm going to try and remember that. Don't judge this image too harshly, the camera adds 10 lbs.



I thought I would be one of the lucky people who's belly button didn't pop out but its looking really shallow (gulp) I don't think it stands a chance.
